Red Seal Award of Excellence Nomination Form

The Red Seal Award of Excellence was established to honour the contributions of provincial/territorial/federal apprenticeship and trade certification staff to the Red Seal Program. The award is presented nationally every second year to an individual working within the apprenticeship system as a staff member/technical training provider who has demonstrated inspirational leadership in the development and promotion of apprenticeship and trade certification.

Who Can Be Nominated?

Award nominees will have made an outstanding contribution to the development and promotion of apprenticeship and trade certification for Red Seal trades on the Canadian or provincial/territorial level. The nominee will have distinguished himself or herself during his or her career as either:

  • a staff member of a provincial/territorial/federal apprenticeship and trade certification organization; or
  • a staff member of an approved technical training provider in a provincial/territorial/federal jurisdiction.

The individual should qualify as a nominee for this award through one or more of the following:

  • ongoing promotion of apprenticeship and trade certification as a means to a successful and productive career;
  • supporting apprentices as they strive for success; and/or
  • leading and/or supporting the growth and development of the Red Seal Program.

Specifically, an individual has:

  • participated in activities that encourage, motivate and promote dedication and passion in a skilled trade;
  • served as a role model for success for aspiring skilled tradespersons; and
  • demonstrated qualities of outstanding leadership in apprenticeship.

Retired staff members/technical training providers are eligible to be nominated for accomplishments dating back no more than three years from the nomination deadline.

Possession of a Red Seal endorsement is an asset.

Previous award nominees and recipients are eligible for nomination for the Red Seal Award of Excellence in subsequent years. Based on the Selection Committee’s award criteria, the best candidate will be selected as the award recipient from all nominations received in any given year.
